It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves
National Gallery of Victoria

Australia's oldest, largest and most visited art museum, the National Gallery of Victoria or NGV is located only a short stroll from the city centre at Federation Square.

Take a free guided tour of the gallery with one of NGV Voluntary Guides conducted daily or download the NGV App to navigate your own way through the National Gallery of Victoria’s collections, programs and exhibition spaces.

Check out NGVs exciting range of creative learning opportunities for everyone, inspired by the NGV Collection and exhibitions. NGV Teens offers specially tailored programming that connects young people with art and artists at the Gallery.

Discover the collection of over 70,000 pieces that include Australian art, Indigenous and non-Indigenous art from the colonial period to the present day. At present the gallery is featuring an exhibition titled Baldessin/Whitely: Parallel Visions, with some of their most iconic works, as well as others that have never been exhibited before. Despite differences in Baldessin’s and Whiteley’s artistic temperaments, chosen materials and stylistic strategies, their works betray many striking parallels and synergies.
