Melbourne’s largest and longest-running community festival, Moomba Festival 2019, celebrates 65 years and welcomes you with open arms to the city over the Labour Day Long Weekend from 8 to 11th of March 2019.

This FREE family, friendly event encompasses the notorious Moomba Monarchs strutting their stuff in the Monday street parade. The forever memorable Birdman Rally on the Yarra River is always a highlight for young and old as are the spectacular nightly fireworks.

The kids in particular will be memorised by the daily water skiing competitions and the carnival of rides which are beautifully placed along the banks of the Yarra River.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better; films can be viewed every night from 6:30pm as well as live entertainment at the festival arena. This can all be enjoyed while feasting on an array of food and drinks from the onsite food trucks.

Summary of the schedule during Moomba 2019 is as follows:

  • Birdman Rally: Sunday 10th of March at 11.30am. Along the Yarra River off Birrarung Marr.
  • Moomba Parade: Monday 11th of March at 10.45am. Starting at the Shrine of Remembrance and finishing at Linlithgow Ave.
  • Fireworks: Saturday, Sunday and Monday evenings between 9.30pm – 9.45pm. They can be viewed best along the Yarra River at Birrarung Marr.
