Free City Circle Tram

Sightsee in Melbourne for Free with The City Circle Tram service!  This Free Tourist Tram provides a free and easy way for visitors to the city to get around central Melbourne.

The City Circle Tram is a great way for tourists (and locals) to travel to major attractions, shops and city events.

The City Circle Tram makes it’s way around the city and links with other tram, train and light rail services in and around Melbourne. The service will take you via shopping malls and arcades, as well as some major attractions including the Old Treasury Building, Parliament House and the Princess Theatre.

There’s no limit to use – tourists are welcome to spend all day on a City Circle Tram! On board each City Circle Tram you’ll find Information leaflets, including an 'easy to understand' map of the city to help you get around to all the key destinations. Tourists often use the service as a 'hop on - hop off' mode of transport, allowing the ability to enjoy each of Melbourne's sites and attractions with the added bonus of experiencing traditional Melbourne transportation.

The stops for the free City Circle Tram service (route number 35) are specially marked along the route.

The free City Circle Tram operates frequently with service approximately every 12 minutes. The tram runs both clockwise and anticlockwise between 10am and 6pm Sunday to Wednesday and from 10am to the extended time of 9pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Clockwise service: Flinders Street > Harbour Esplanade > Docklands Drive > La Trobe Street > Victoria Street > Nicholson Street > Spring Street > Flinders Street
Anti-clockwise service: Flinders Street > Spring Street > Nicholson Street > Victoria Parade > La Trobe Street > Docklands Drive > Harbour Esplanade > Flinders Street

The complete loop (in either direction) takes approximately 48 minutes to complete.
